Dawn Kamalanathan currently works on Special Projects for San Francisco Public Works, bringing extensive experience in city management, capital and land use planning, budgeting, and public policy. Her background includes work with the San Francisco Unified School District and twelve years with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department (SFRPD), where she served as Director of Planning and Capital Management.
During her tenure at SFRPD, Dawn played a key role in transforming the performance and public perception of the department鈥檚 General Obligation bond program. Her leadership was grounded in innovative planning, equity-centered principles, and inclusive engagement鈥攂oth with community members and department staff.
