In celebration of Transit Month, 黑料传送门invites you to our third annual tour of San Francisco鈥檚 iconic cable car barn and powerhouse! This behind-the-scenes experience will give 黑料传送门members a unique look at where these historic streetcars are stored, maintained, and restored when they鈥檙e not climbing the city鈥檚 hills.
Ages 10 and up are welcome, and attendees will also have the opportunity to meet our new CEO, Sean Elsbernd. As a special part of the event, attendees will enjoy a private ride on a cable car down to Fisherman鈥檚 Wharf and back.
Cable cars are synonymous with San Francisco, but few know the full story. As the world鈥檚 last manually operated cable car system, San Francisco鈥檚 three remaining lines have remained largely unchanged since their invention in 1873 by engineer Andrew Hallidie. The Mason Street cable car barn is where these beloved vehicles rest and receive the meticulous care that keeps them running for generations to come.
